ATEM Courses

The following Courses have been developed using the same evidence-based process as all American Heart Association Emergency Cardiovascular Care courses which are recognized and accepted Nationwide for Healthcare Professionals and State Regulatory requirements. These classes can be completed separately or combined to meet specific workplace and individual needs. Class lengths listed are approximate and will vary depending on actual number of participants in any given class.

• ATEM CPR FIRST AID/AED Course
(Blended learning options available) Upon completion** of this class the lay person, with a duty to respond, (non healthcare providers) will know all aspects described in the ASHI CPR class in addition to use of an automated external defibrillator (AED). Participants practice skills using the Practice While Watch video concept and perform a practical skills evaluation.

Course length: 3.5-4.5 hours. Certification valid for 2 years.

 

• ATEM First Aid Course
(Blended learning options available) Upon completion** of this class rescuers will be able to effectively recognize and treat adult emergencies, in the critical first minutes, until emergency medical services personnel arrive. Students will learn how to identify and give aid to victims with the following conditions: asthma, stroke, choking, severe allergic reactions, use of epinephrine injectors, diabetic emergencies, seizures, bleeding, burns, broken bones, and a variety of environmental emergencies, including animal, insect, and snake bites, heat stroke and hypothermia. This course combines knowledge as well as practical hands-on skills. The course meets OSHA requirements and provides corporations with a complete training solution for Adult First Aid. Students will perform a practical skills evaluation.

Course length: approx. 4.5 hours. Certification valid for 2 years.

• ATEM Pediatric First Aid
Minimum of 4 students needed to conduct this class. This course is designed to meet the specific needs of child daycare providers in all 50 states. The course meets CA Health & Safety Code Section 1596.866 requirements for Teachers and Daycare Facilities as well as CA Education Code Section 35179.1 requirements for Coaches, Youth Sport Organizations, and camp counselors. The modular format creates course flexibility. Learners will receive feedback from an instructor while learning skills Each student receives the highest quality course materials to supplement their learning. Student CD-ROM (included with student workbook) includes additional information on CPR, AED and first aid content that students can reference after the course. This course combines knowledge as well as practical hands-on skills, that is a complete training solution for Pediatric First Aid. Students will perform a practical skills evaluation.

Course length: approx. 8.5 hours. Certification valid for 2 years.
